Petro is a village fisherman who never thought he would take up a weapon. On his first combat mission, however, his actions helped eliminate dozens of enemy fighters.
He credits his survival to the instructors who trained him. “I am most grateful to the instructors. Especially Zakhar. Their training taught me to fight and helped me survive behind enemy lines,” Kolya says.
His unit advanced into a gray zone to clear enemy sabotage groups. After several firefights, Kolya found himself cut off in the enemy rear — where he spent nearly 12 days. Under constant artillery fire and drone attacks, he fought in close quarters, used grenades to force a group of occupiers into a building, and held out until friendly UAVs arrived and finished the engagement.
“We knew enemy drones would soon appear in this sector, so Kolya was ordered to move to another location and find cover,” says Chekh, chief sergeant of the 3rd Assault Battalion of the 210th Separate Assault Regiment.
Kolya followed orders without hesitation and spent more than ten days in a temporary shelter, transmitting detailed radio reports that helped coordinate other assault groups and direct UAV strikes against enemy saboteurs. After completing all assigned tasks, he crossed over 10 kilometers through enemy territory to reach the evacuation point, where he was rescued and received medical aid.

“I am incredibly grateful to the battalion command for guiding me on the radio and bringing me back to my brothers. And to the UAV operators who destroyed enemies in the rear. I felt true coordination and the spirit of Brotherhood,” Kolya says.
Now Kolya is recovering and eager to return to the front.

The regiment carries on their heroic legacy — from the defense of Kyiv and battles in Bakhmut and Kupiansk to the liberation of key towns in Donetsk region.
