The structure of the Russian armed forces was created according to the Soviet principles of recruitment.

“In the Russian army, many units carry out only the protection and defense of facilities both on the territory of Russia and abroad.
In addition, the Russian Federation has a powerful contingent in Syria. Russia has an extensive network of military bases on the territory of the former Soviet Union: Armenia and Tajikistan, a contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, a contingent in Kazakhstan. According to Vadim Skibitsky, the personnel shortage in the Russian army began immediately after the numerous human losses that the occupiers suffered from the first days of a full-scale war.
