More than 70 people, including two rescuers, were injured and at least four civilians killed during a large-scale Russian combined strike on Ukraine overnight into Sunday, September 28.

Casualties Across the Country

According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Russia carried out continuous attacks on Ukraine for more than 12 hours. Emergency services and police have deployed over 1,500 personnel across 11 regions to deal with the aftermath.

“In Kyiv, we are working at eight sites. Four people were killed, including a 12-year-old girl crushed by a concrete slab. At the Institute of Cardiology, both a nurse and a patient died. Another victim was found dead at the site of a strike on civilian infrastructure,” Klymenko reported.

As of 11:45 a.m., more than 70 people have been confirmed injured nationwide. At some locations, entire neighborhoods were damaged. During rescue operations, structural collapses injured two emergency workers, who are now receiving medical treatment.

Regional Impact

  • Kyiv region: At least 31 people injured, including three children.

  • Zaporizhzhia: The hardest hit, with at least 30 apartment residents wounded, among them three children.

  • Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Odesa: Fires have been extinguished by the State Emergency Service. Robotic equipment is being used to reduce risks for rescuers.

Overall, more than 100 civilian sites were damaged across the country. Investigators are documenting Russia’s war crimes and collecting testimonies. Police have already received over 700 reports from citizens about destroyed or damaged property, with the number continuing to grow.

Background

During the night, Russia launched 643 aerial weapons against Ukraine, of which 611 were intercepted by air defense forces.

Earlier reports confirmed that in Kyiv alone four people were killed, including a 12-year-old child, and at least 13 more civilians were injured.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that, according to preliminary data, at least 40 people were injured nationwide in this latest wave of Russian strikes.
