Russia Attacks Kharkiv and Suburbs – Casualties, Destruction, and Fires Reported

On the night of Wednesday, October 1, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Kharkiv and its suburbs, using both guided aerial bombs (KABs) and missiles. The strike caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, fires, and, according to preliminary reports, left six civilians injured.
Details of the Attack
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported overnight that Russian forces used KABs against the city and also warned of ballistic missile launches targeting Kharkiv and nearby suburbs.

As a result of KAB strikes in the Saltivskyi and Kyivskyi districts, private houses and garages were destroyed, and fires broke out. A fire was also recorded at one of the city’s markets.
“A major fire was also recorded at a garage cooperative. At this time, five people are known to have been injured at the strike sites. Emergency services continue their work,” Terekhov reported at 03:15.
Later, at 03:58, he added that the number of injured had risen to six.

State Emergency Service Report
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) confirmed in the morning that Russia had launched a massive attack with guided aerial bombs and missiles on Kharkiv, its suburbs, and the Chuhuiv district.
Rescuers reported the following consequences:

In the Kyivskyi district, trade pavilions caught fire over an area of 2,800 sq. meters.

In the Saltivskyi district, a residential building was destroyed and caught fire, while garages were also damaged and burned across 350 sq. meters.
The SES noted that the fires were localized, and emergency response operations are ongoing. Units of the SES, sappers, psychologists, dog handlers, and volunteer firefighters are working on the ground.

Additional Context
Earlier, “myukraineis” reported that around 16:00 on September 30, authorities in the Dnipropetrovsk region warned of drone threats to the city and surrounding areas, and explosions followed within minutes.
