On the night of August 21, a Russian missile struck an American factory in Mukachevo, Transcarpathia, causing widespread international reaction. Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius described the attack as “an open humiliation of the United States and its efforts.”

Linkevičius’s Reaction

In his statement, Linkevičius emphasized that Moscow deliberately undermines peace initiatives.

“The Russians are clearly nervous that Putin’s ‘hypnosis session’ in Alaska may fail. The launch of 600 drones and 40 missiles at Ukraine, including an American plant, is not just a manifestation of disapproval of the search for peace. This is an open humiliation of the United States and its efforts,” Linkevičius wrote.

Position of American Business

Andy Hunder, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, called on U.S. President Donald Trump to respond decisively.

“Russia not only destroys Ukraine – it also destroys and humiliates American business. We urge President Trump to defend American business and fight back against Putin’s campaign of destruction,” Hunder stated after the strike on the Flex factory in Mukachevo.

Response of Hungary and Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán offered assistance to victims, while Ukraine’s government head Yulia Svyrydenko ironically noted that the enemy had “decided to liberate Ukraine from coffee machines.”
