During a massive overnight combined attack on Ukraine on November 19, Russian forces struck the city of Ternopil with missiles and Shahed-type attack drones. One of the strikes hit a residential area, destroying a multi-story apartment building and causing casualties among civilians.

Strike on the Residential Sector

According to preliminary reports, the attack occurred around 4 a.m., when Russian forces launched a wave of missiles and kamikaze drones across Ukraine. One of the incoming projectiles hit a multi-story residential building in Ternopil, resulting in severe structural destruction and fire.

Photos and videos from the scene, widely shared on social media, show collapsed floors, destroyed apartments, and debris scattered across the area, with people trapped under the rubble.

Official Comment from the Mayor

Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal confirmed the attack and noted that several buildings, including residential ones, had been damaged:

“Killers struck our city with missiles and Shaheds. Buildings and residential homes are damaged. There are injured people. Emergency services are working on-site. More details will follow.”

He also warned residents about temporary disruptions to public transportation, particularly in the “Sonyachnyi” district, due to ongoing emergency operations.

Fatalities Reported

According to “Suspilne,” at least two people have been confirmed dead at the site of the strike. The number of injured is still being clarified, as rescue teams continue clearing debris where people may still be trapped.

Emergency workers and medics remain engaged in search-and-rescue operations.

Nationwide Overnight Attack

The night of November 19 saw another large-scale Russian air assault across Ukraine, prompting air-raid alerts nationwide.

  • The Ministry of Energy reported emergency power outages in several regions due to strikes on energy infrastructure. Restoration will begin once the security situation allows.

  • Kharkiv also came under a heavy drone attack. Russian forces launched 19 Geran-2 drones targeting three districts: Slobidskyi, Osnovianskyi, and Nemishlianskyi.

Damage Assessment Continues

As of the morning, rescue operations in Ternopil are ongoing. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the destruction and confirming the number of casualties.

Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities once again highlight the deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, resulting in daily humanitarian and security challenges across the country.
