This week, the United States may announce the purchase of medium- and long-range air defense systems for Ukraine.

This was reported by CNN .

It is noted that President Joe Biden recently stated that the United States will continue to supply Ukraine with "better missile systems and ammunition."

A CNN source said that this week the White House will also announce additional supplies of military aid in response to requests from the Ukrainian side.

In particular, the new military aid package will include additional artillery ammunition and counter-battery radars.

Earlier, Ukrainian officials also asked for the transfer of modern air defense systems to NASAMS.

We remind that back in April, the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that they were trying to replace the obsolete Soviet-made Buk -M1 SAM with the latest NASAMS. Such intentions were voiced in a video message on the official website of the Air Force Command on social networks.

In late March, President Volodymyr Zelensky asked Norway to provide NASAMS mobile anti-aircraft missile systems and Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

NASAMS systems are manufactured by a consortium of the American corporation Raytheon Technologies and the Norwegian group Kongsberg. The complex includes launchers, radar stations (radar) Raytheon AN / MPQ-64F1 Sentinel from the consortium of Raytheon and Kongsberg.

Raytheon is responsible for supplying its AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles for this system, and Kongsberg supplies the launchers.

Each mobile launcher has six containers with anti-aircraft missiles. NASAMS SAM is in service or delivered to 12 countries.
