Businessmen-volunteers established mass production of bulletproof vests for the Armed Forces

Ukrainian manufacturers of armor protection together with businessmen organized mass production of bulletproof vests for the military in western Ukraine. The capacity of the already established production allows to sew up to 5 thousand covers for body armor per day. They will be handed over to the army free of charge. This was reported by journalists of the "Schemes" project (Radio Svoboda).

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, a number of businessmen have united and established large-scale production of body armor for soldiers.

"Since the beginning of the war, hundreds of thousands of people have joined the ranks of defense - it's defense, it's volunteers, the Armed Forces, a total of hundreds of thousands of soldiers. The request is hundreds of thousands of products. This is a very urgent need, "said Yuriy Fedorov, director of the Kharkiv Plant of Personal Protective Equipment.

The team of the Kharkiv enterprise moved to the west of Ukraine and merged with the local business into the Lviv Defense Cluster to produce hundreds of thousands of bulletproof vests for the Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is now waiting for the start of mass production of bulletproof vests at the production rebuilt from scratch. The department has already declared its readiness to accept them.

The full cycle of military body armor production was organized at several companies that were not previously associated with the war. Currently, volunteer businessmen are actively looking for materials - fabric and armor steel.

Manufacturers also test armor plates separately, a key element of protection in the product offered by novice volunteers. According to a specially defined procedure - in particular, they are shot with specific bullets and, thus, determine the stability.

"During the week, materials were brought - stockpiles, some bought, some donated, approximately 400-500 thousand dollars. Now there is a need for hundreds of thousands of dollars at least. Both citizens and businesses can donate to us, and we will be very grateful for the opportunity to have personal contacts with foreign companies that have leftover steel or fabric in stock, ”said Yuri Fedorov.

The first batch of bulletproof vests has already been transferred to the front line.
