The Russian army experienced a personnel shortage immediately after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, because the Russian Ministry of Defense is constantly trying to increase the number of contract soldiers. After all, it seems that they decided not to send conscripts to the war in Ukraine after high-profile scandals within the Russian Federation
As of today, the Russian Federation can involve up to 350,000 more military personnel in combat operations in Ukraine.
This was stated by the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadym Skibitsky on the air of the Military Television of Ukraine.
The structure of the Russian armed forces was created according to the Soviet principles of recruitment.
In terms of quantity, parts of allowances dominate over combat units.
“In the Russian army, many units carry out only the protection and defense of facilities both on the territory of Russia and abroad.
In addition, the Russian Federation has a powerful contingent in Syria. Russia has an extensive network of military bases on the territory of the former Soviet Union: Armenia and Tajikistan, a contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, a contingent in Kazakhstan. Thus, if you put it all together, then it comes out 300-350 thousand, which Russia can use in the war against Ukraine, ”said a representative of the military intelligence of Ukraine.
According to Vadim Skibitsky, the personnel shortage in the Russian army began immediately after the numerous human losses that the occupiers suffered from the first days of a full-scale war.
