Russia is far behind its schedule for taking over Ukraine

The Pentagon noted that Ukraine began to carry out effective localized counter-offensives. Meanwhile, in the fifth month of a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, Russia is well behind its schedule in its advance into the Donbass. This was stated at a briefing by a senior Pentagon official.

“The Russians are making very gradual, limited and costly progress only in certain small areas of the Donbas. They are far behind their deadlines. They are far behind their targets,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

The Pentagon also noted that Ukraine began to carry out effective localized counter-offensives.

“We are increasingly seeing the ability of the Ukrainians to use the Himars systems to significantly hinder the ability of the Russians to advance even where they have been so difficult and slow to advance. Therefore, we do not see Russia winning this battle at all,” the official said.

The US Department of Defense refutes Russian fakes that Ukraine uses Himars multiple launch rocket systems to shell Russian territory.

“Russia's allegation of using Himars for strikes outside of Ukraine is erroneous. Ukraine uses them in the fight and uses them quite effectively,” a senior Pentagon official told reporters.
