Sanctioned Listed Individuals and their family members will not be able to visit Canada or obtain a Canadian visa
Canada has decided to expand the restrictions for citizens of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine who are under Canadian sanctions due to the war in Ukraine.
Among them are Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. After the passage of the relevant bill, they and their family members will not be able to enter Canada.
This was announced by the Minister of Public Safety of Canada Marco Mendicino.
As the Canadian Border Services Agency explained , the government decided to pass amendments to the immigration law.
According to the changes, persons on the sanctions lists and their family members will not be able to visit Canada, obtain a Canadian visa and may be expelled from the country.
Almost a thousand people appear on the Canadian sanctions list , most of them are Russian citizens.
Previously, Putin and other top Russian officials were banned from entering Australia and New Zealand.
