A famous Ukrainian athlete sells his Olympic medal to support the army

The 33-year-old athlete presented a medal for the World Sports For Ukraine charity series of auctions held by Tribuna.com together with the volunteer organization Ukraine Alive 2022 and the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund.

Bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympics karateka Stanislav Goruna decided to sell his medal at an eBay auction .

The starting price of the medal is 10,000 US dollars.

"Good day. We are from Ukraine, and there is a war in Ukraine. We are being attacked by the Russian army on the orders of the Russian president. There are thousands of deaths and tens of thousands of wounded. Millions of people were left homeless.

But our army is fighting heroically and recapturing the enemy's homeland.

My Olympic medal is the most valuable of the more than 200 medals I have won in my 19-year career. It symbolizes all the work I have done in the gym and competitions. Symbolizes every victory won on the way to the Olympics. I want to sell it at auction and support my people in this difficult time. There is nothing more important than Ukraine now, "Goruna said.

Both real artifacts and rare sportswear belonging to athletes will be exhibited at the auction site. The auction has already started and will last until April 6.
